Slow Food and Mass in Motion present Local Eggs and Backyard Chickens!

Slow Food MV presents three short films from The Lexicon of Sustainability that tell the “Story of an Egg,” “Local,” and “Forage”. Explore terms such as “cage free,””food miles,” and “eating in season.”  In partnership with Mass in Motion MV.

TRASH! Where does our island waste go? What can we do as individuals and companies to curb the amount of trash we create? What about Island wide composting! How can Islanders and farmers work together to create use for our live waste?  Scott Carroll of Bruno’s and “waste activist” Tomar Waldman weigh in, moderated by Barry Stringfellow writer from the MV Times.

Local Wild Food Challenge demo and talk with founder Billy Manson. Come see how resourceful you can be from the land and sign up for the October 14th event!

Hops! The Offshore Ale Company talks about the brewing process and their new seasonal Hopps Farm Road Pale Ale, a limited small-batch seasonal offering made with locally grown West Tisbury hops. Includes free tastings! Must be 21+ and valid photo I.D. for tasting.

Cape Light Compact team gives some tips and tools that can help you save energy, natural resources and money on your home heating and electric bills.

In 1997, the six towns of Martha’s Vineyard and Dukes County, working with the fifteen Cape Cod towns and Barnstable County, formed the Cape Light Compact. Since 2001, the Compact has provided energy efficiency programs to residents and businesses and delivers award winning energy education programs, competitive electricity supply and effective consumer advocacy.

John Abrams from South Mountain Company talks about Benefit Corporations (aka B Corps), a new legal form for business that encourages greater community responsibility.

2:00-3:00PM Ag Hall Stage

A Talk with Anna Edey, the founder of Solviva, talking about her new book, “Green Light at the End of the Tunnel”, and her journey of ‘Living Local’ in ways that reduce nitrogen and carbon footprints to near-zero, and also greatly reduce cost of living, and improve quality of life.
